As parents we all have dreams for our children but there is probably one we all share in common — for each of their lives to be filled with happiness. That is where our story begins.
Five years ago, we were blessed with the birth of our first child, Liam. With a head full of curly brown hair, beautiful blue eyes, and a contagious smile, he is truly the joy of our lives. At 6 months of age, Liam was diagnosed with a rare genetic pediatric neurotransmitter disease, SSADH (Succinic Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase) deficiency, that affects one’s ability to walk, eat, speak, and communicate.
Liam has enriched our lives and led us to people in this world whom we never would have met and to places that we never would have seen. We are inspired by Liam’s life and believe he has a special purpose — to be the “link” for doctors and researchers to find ways to improve the quality of life for kids like Liam and to ultimately find a cure.
On May 3, 2010, the Liam’s Links inaugural golf tournament will begin our family’s mission to raise awareness of SSADH and to help fund research for neurotransmitter diseases. On behalf of Liam and the children and families affected by this disease, please join us on the links and help become a catalyst of hope for their future.
Many thanks in advance for your support.
Sincerely,
Jay and Diana Strickland
